India comes in third place globally in terms of yearly coconut production, following Indonesia and the Philippines.
India’s leading coconut-producing states are:

  • Karnataka (30.83% of production)
  • Tamil Nadu (27.47% of production)
  • Kerala (24.22% of production)

Other significant states that produce coconuts are Gujarat, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Bihar.
The production of coconuts is significant to India’s national economy.
In India, the coconut palm is known as the “tree of heaven” or “Kalpavriksha” since every component of the palm is beneficial to humans.
